Why neighbors call Lutz
We've been doing this in San Francisco since 1929. Over the decades we've learned that the best plumbing service has less to do with clever marketing and more to do with showing up on time, diagnosing honestly, and doing the work right the first time.
Every Emergency Service job we take on comes with our craftsmanship warranty, fully licensed technicians, and transparent pricing. If you've been burned by the industry before, we hope we'll be the company that restores your faith in it.
Our process
- 1Diagnose
We inspect the actual problem with camera or thermal tools where it matters, before we quote anything.
- 2Quote
Written quote before any work starts. Simple jobs get a fixed price; complex ones get a clear scope plus how we'll handle anything we discover along the way. No surprise invoicing.
- 3Fix
Permitted, licensed, and to code. Tidy site management. Done in the smallest number of visits possible.
- 4Warranty
We sign off on our own work. If it's not right, we come back.
Common questions
Is Lutz Plumbing available 24/7?
We staff our own phones Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. After hours, leave a voicemail and a dispatcher calls back to roll a truck for genuine emergencies like burst pipes, flooding, and sewer backups. We are not a 24/7 staffed call center, but we do respond after hours for emergencies.
What counts as a plumbing emergency?
Burst or leaking pipes, active flooding, sewer backups into the home, a failed water heater leaking water, and suspected gas leaks all count. For a suspected gas leak, leave the building first and call PG&E, then call us. If water is actively flowing, shut off your main water valve before anything else.
How fast can you get to my San Francisco home?
During business hours we aim to dispatch within a few hours for emergencies across San Francisco, depending on crew availability. Our trucks are stocked for fast response so most emergencies are resolved in a single visit.
What should I do while I wait for the technician?
Shut off the water at the main valve or at the fixture stop to stop the flooding, move valuables away from the water, and clear a path to the affected area. If you smell gas, do not switch anything electrical on or off, leave the building, and call PG&E from outside.
