TOTO NEOREST Buying Guide.
Three things every San Francisco bathroom needs before a NEOREST smart toilet installation, plus a side-by-side model comparison. From the only Factory-Trained Authorized Service Representative for TOTO in SF.
Before you buy
Three things your bathroom needs.
NEOREST is a plug-in appliance with tighter tolerances than a standard toilet. Checking these three conditions up front saves days of install delay and avoids surprise costs when Lutz completes your TOTO NEOREST installation.
Angle stop position
Every NEOREST model has a specific angle stop (water supply valve) location. If yours isn't within the model's tolerance, the valve has to be relocated before the toilet can be installed. This is the single biggest reason an install stalls on day one.
Electrical outlet
NEOREST toilets are plug-in appliances. They draw 10–15 amps during the seat-heating and water-heating cycle, so a dedicated circuit is strongly recommended to avoid nuisance tripping when the bathroom's other loads run at the same time.
Rough-in distance
All floor-mount NEOREST models assume a standard 12" rough-in. If your existing drain is further from the wall, plan on either a flange extender, a re-rough, or selecting a wall-hung model instead.
The #1 install issue
Angle stop location.
The angle stop is the small shut-off valve that connects the water supply line to the toilet. On a standard toilet it can usually sit anywhere within a wide range behind the fixture. On a NEOREST, it has to line up with the specific model's supply-line path, and that window is narrow.
If your existing angle stop is in the wrong spot, the cleanest time to move it is during a bathroom remodel or tile re-do, when the wall is already open. If the wall is closed and the finish is in place, relocating the valve becomes a targeted patch job, possible, but planned for.
The only reliable way to know is a site check. We bring a model-by-model tolerance chart and measure before you commit to a purchase.
The lineup
NEOREST models at a glance.
Every NEOREST model includes a heated seat, integrated bidet with adjustable spray, warm-air dryer, deodorizer, night light, and auto open/close. The differences are in form, tech, and angle-stop position.
| Model | Angle stop | Tier | Notable features |
|---|---|---|---|
| NEOREST RS | 4½" | Entry | Soft, curvilinear form. EWATER+ bowl and wand cleaning. Heated seat, bidet, deodorizer, auto open/close. |
| NEOREST AS | 4½" | Mid | Angular, architectural silhouette. EWATER+ plus under-seat cleaning. Slimmer remote. |
| NEOREST LS | 11¹³⁄₁₆" | Premium | Linear design with metallic trim. Coordinating remote finishes, silver, nickel, black. |
| NEOREST NX1 | 9¼" | Flagship | Tankless flagship. Fully sensor-driven, hands-free operation. No visible tank. |
| NEOREST NX2 | 9¼" | Flagship | Everything in the NX1 plus ACTILIGHT UV self-cleaning technology. |
EWATER+ is TOTO's electrolyzed-water self-cleaning technology. ACTILIGHT (NX2 only) adds a UV self-cleaning cycle for the bowl.
