TOTO NEOREST Buying Guide
Everything you need to know before purchasing and installing a NEOREST. One page. No fluff.
Three Things Your Bathroom Needs
These are the requirements that most often cause installation delays or extra costs. Confirm them early.
Angle Stop Position
Left of toilet centerline. Exact distance depends on model.
What's an angle stop?Electrical Outlet
Dedicated outlet within 3 feet. 15A circuit recommended.
We can coordinate with a licensed electrician or you can use your own.Rough-in Distance
From finished wall to flange center. All floor-mount models.
Traditional toilets have flexible valve placement. NEOREST models don't — the valve must be in a precise location to fit under the skirted design. If yours isn't, we can relocate it, but it's best to know before install day.

What is an angle stop?
The angle stop is the shutoff valve on the wall that controls water to the toilet. With standard toilets, placement is flexible. With NEOREST, the valve must sit in a specific zone to fit beneath the skirted base and remain accessible.
Required positions by model
The toilet may not seat flush, require visible piping, or need skirt modification.
Before tile and paint. During a remodel is ideal — relocating after is more costly.
What you need
- 120V GFCI-protected outlet
- Dedicated 15A circuit (recommended)
- Within 3 feet of toilet location
- Positioned to remain accessible but discreet
Most Bay Area homes don't have an outlet near the toilet. If you're remodeling, add it during rough-in. For existing bathrooms, an electrician can typically add one in a few hours.
NEOREST units draw 10–15A during heating cycles. A shared circuit could trip breakers, especially in bathrooms with hair dryers or space heaters.
This NEOREST RS installation had the existing angle stop in a traditional location — too far from centerline. The result: additional piping to route the supply, and a slightly less clean finish than a properly planned rough-in.
What we did
- Rerouted supply line behind the toilet
- Minor skirt modification for access
- Completed installation same day
Lesson: It's fixable, but planning ahead avoids extra time and cost.
